Thermador Error Codes We Fix in Orange County

A Thermador code points at the sealed system, the cooking controls, or the electronics behind either. Find your code family below — or call and read it to us.

Thermador shares control platforms with the rest of BSH, so these families behave much like Bosch's and the same diagnostic logic applies. Freedom column refrigeration has its own set, which is why it is listed separately below.

What to do right now

1
Write the code down exactly
Including any letters and the dashes. Variants of the same family can point at different parts.
2
Do not clear it yet
Cycling the power wipes the display without fixing anything, and you lose the one piece of evidence we have.
3
Note how fast it returns
Minutes, hours or days. That timing separates a failing part from an intermittent connection.

What the fix is likely to cost

A code narrows the diagnosis; it does not price it. The same family can be a cheap sensor or an expensive control board, which is why we quote after seeing it rather than over the phone.

Why sealed-system codes surface early near the coast

Thermador refrigeration reports sealed-system and cooling faults through its own family of codes, and those are the codes the coast bears on. Within about three miles of the water — Huntington Beach, Newport, Laguna, Dana Point, San Clemente and the rest of the 12 coastal cities we cover — airborne salt settles on the condenser and attacks the joint where aluminium fins meet copper tubing. A coil that has lost surface area rejects less heat, the system runs longer to hold temperature, and the control eventually reports it. That code is real, but the coil is the cause and recharging the system does not address it. We check coil condition on coastal calls before reading anything into a sealed-system code.

What Thermador cooking codes mean in an Orange County kitchen

Cooking codes are not weather-driven, but where the appliance sits decides how the repair goes. Much of the county's higher-end housing — the master-planned Irvine villages, the Newport Coast and Shady Canyon customs, the large-lot Villa Park and Yorba Linda properties — runs built-in and panel-ready installations rather than freestanding units. A wall oven or a sealed-in cooktop has to come out of its cutout before most of the work starts, so telling us what you have when you book decides whether the visit needs one technician or two.

What Thermador codes have in common

A specific failed component rather than the whole unit
Most single-symptom issues trace back to one part, not a systemic failure.
Wear on parts that see the most daily use
Moving parts and seals typically fail before electronic or structural components.
A control or sensor fault
Electronics can produce symptoms that look mechanical at first glance.
Before you call
  1. Note exactly when the issue started and whether anything changed beforehand
  2. Try a full power cycle at the breaker before calling

Clearing a code at the breaker wipes the display without touching what set it off. If it comes back, note how quickly — that is diagnostic information worth having.

Oven Over-Temperature Lockout in Orange County

Likely causes
A failed bake or broil element
The most common cause of a full loss of heat in an electric oven.
A drifted temperature sensor
Electronic sensors drift out of spec gradually, so the oven can run well off-target without any error showing.
A weak convection fan
Uneven heat distribution often traces back to a fan that's slowed down rather than the heating element itself.
Checks you can make
  1. Confirm the oven light and display are working normally
  2. Try a different rack position to see if heat is uneven throughout or concentrated in one area
Parts most often involved: Bake or Broil Element · Temperature Sensor (RTD/Thermistor) · Convection Fan Motor

Star Burner Ignition Failure in Orange County

Likely causes
A dirty or misaligned igniter
Debris or grease buildup prevents a clean spark, which is the single most common cause of ignition failure.
A faulty gas valve or regulator
Controls gas flow to the burner and can fail independently of the igniter.
A clogged burner port
Food residue blocking the small gas ports produces a weak or uneven flame even when ignition works.
Checks you can make
  1. Clean visible debris from the igniter and burner ports
  2. Confirm the gas supply valve to the unit is fully open
Parts most often involved: Igniter Assembly · Gas Valve / Regulator · Spark Module

Other code families we work on

These are reported less often and the fix depends almost entirely on the model, so there is no useful generic answer to print. Read the code to us over the phone and we will tell you what it points at before scheduling anything.
